Röyksopp has been playing an important role in an elegant mix of downtempo, electronica, house and various other genres for almost twenty years. The group was founded in the late 1990s by Svein Berge and Torbjørn Brundtland. They are considered to be one of the best-known representatives of "Bergen Vilnius", who, together with Kings of Convenience, drew attention to the Norwegian city, which was little noticed on the world map at that time. Röyksopp's debut album Melody A.M, known to many, stood out for its ability to combine three decades of electronic music history, taking the most characteristic elements from them and giving the overall sound of the album a dreamy lightness. Over time, the duo developed this foundation into new forms, gradually moving towards more dynamic club-based electronica, a sound that today becomes the central axis of their creative identity.
This change of course is vividly marked by the single "What Else Is There?", released in early 2025. interpretation. The new version, created in collaboration with producer Trentemøller, not only gives the track a more rhythmic sound, but also reminds listeners of the most expressive stops of Scandinavian electronica. On the True Electric album, which includes this song, Röyksopp continues the new course he took a few years ago and says of the record: "[it's] task is to reflect the essence of our shows. We wanted to emphasize this time the aspects of our music created for the club atmosphere, as well as going back to our roots in electronic music."
In Riga, it is expected that Röyksopp, as a DJ, will fill the hall with melodic techno and progressive house genre notes, also incorporating tribal house and other sub-directions of this genre. In conjunction with Crave Night, which offers listeners an event specially created for the Riga audience, supplemented with visual projections and light play - get ready to dive into a Nordic trance in the best concert hall in Riga.
