The British rock group Skunk Anansie released their latest album called "The Painful Truth" on May 23, which has already been highly praised by music critics.

On June 21, the band will also be seen in Riga, at the "Palladium" concert hall. Tickets for the concert are still available at www.bilesuserviss.lv and in all "Biļešu Serviss" outlets.

"The Painful Truth" is an exciting, provocative, powerful and emotional album. Skunk Anansie is candid about who they are today and what they want to become. Translated into Latvian, "painful truth" is more than just the name of the album - it is the reality of the group, which reflects what has been experienced.

The producer of the album is David Sitek, who is better known from the group TV On The Radio. "The Painful Truth" is fresh, honest, inspiring and multi-layered - an album that clearly shows the band's knack for writing powerful songs. The melodies are even sharper and more memorable.

It's Skunk Anansie's first album under newly formed label FLG Records , and it sounds refreshing after the band's long career and previous platinum records. This album proves once again that Skunk Anansie have a firm position in British music as one of the most exciting and important bands with their own unique vision.

"When I think about it, yes, we've made good albums throughout our career, but it's been a long time since we've made a really great album. And that's the painful truth," admits vocalist Skin. "This realization resulted in an album that I truly believe is our best yet."

Formed in 1994 in London, Skunk Anansie are a truly influential band - one of the first multinational British rock bands, known for their powerful sound and thoughtful lyrics. The leader of the group - the charismatic and energetic Skin - together with the other members combines alternative rock with elements of punk rock and metal, the group becoming one of the most important and influential musical groups of its time.

During the first seven years of its existence, Skunk Anansie released three studio albums - "Paranoid & Sunburnt" (1995), "Stoosh" (1996) and "Post Orgasmic Chill" (1999) and achieved world fame with the hits "Charity", "Hedonism", "Selling Jesus" and "Weak". In 1999, the band performed on the main stage of Glastonbury Festival. They went on hiatus in 2001, but resumed in 2009, recording new music and touring. The albums "Wonderlustre" (2010), "Black Traffic" (2012), "Anarchytecture" (2016) were released. The group sold millions of records worldwide.

As part of Skunk Anansie's 2025 tour, the Riga public will also be able to experience the group's provocative energy and uncontrollable concert experience.
