When silence turns into sound and sound - into infinity - MONO returns to Riga after a break of several years on November 30 at the Palladium concert hall. Their music is not just a concert, it's an experience where time dissolves and emotions turn into quivering string vibrations. This will be a night where sound speaks louder than words. Instrumental rock from Japan! Tickets are available in the "Bilešu Serviss" network.
MONO's latest twelfth full-length studio album, Oath, is one of the last audio documents produced by Steve Albini, who passed away in 2024 and has also worked on albums by Pixies, PJ Harvey, Nirvana and Manic Street Preachers. "Oath" begins with airy electronic sounds, gradually joined by horns and a powerful orchestra, as the quartet calmly waits for its moment to join, to take the head on a dizzying journey, the end result of which is the victory of sanity over all the evil in the world, which MONO emphasized already on their 2016 album "Requiem for Hell". Last year, celebrating its quarter-century anniversary, the band toured sixteen countries, played in North America and China in the spring of this year, but has now returned to Europe to perform in Riga soon.
The band's guitar compositions range from melodically hypnotic and euphoric calm to rippling musical storms capable of wiping everything in their path off the face of the earth. As is typical for artists from Asia, MONO also raises the instrumental postrock they play to a new, heightened and even exaggerated, but still comfortable level for the auditory senses, which is especially noticeable during their live performances. It should be reminded that the Japanese quartet has already performed three sold-out concerts in Riga, and this will be the reunion of Latvian listeners who have already fallen in love with them after an eleven-year break.
The venue chosen for the event – Palladium Riga is a place where sound becomes architecture. Its L-Acoustics system is designed according to the most modern standards of the world's concert halls, ensuring both powerful and saturated sound pressure and accurate perception of details even in the finest nuances. The uniform sound coverage created in the room allows every listener to experience crystal clear sound regardless of their location. Here the sound is not only heard, it is felt.
