From underground concerts to platinum albums, American rock band P.O.D. has created a sound that is difficult to put into one genre, but is immediately recognizable. With such songs as "Alive", "Youth of the Nation" and "Boom", the band has become one of the most important alternative metal bands of its generation since the nineties, and on August 2nd they will perform at the Palladium Rīga concert hall.
Tickets on sale from April 10 at 10.00 on the "Bilešu Serviss" network. Members of the Positivus Festival and the FBI Concert Club will be able to purchase tickets in advance from April 9 at 10.00
The band's musical identity has been formed from a wide range of sources of inspiration, where, in addition to Run-DMC and The Police, Metallica, AC/DC, Bad Brains and Bob Marley also occupy an important place. This diversity is reflected in the band's sound, where metal guitars combine with elements of rap, reggae and punk rock. More attention to P.O.D. gained after the release of their third studio album, The Fundamental Elements of Southtown, which went platinum in the US, but success was achieved gradually, with hundreds of gigs in small venues and clubs.
Comprised of vocalist Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel, bassist Traa Daniels and drummer Wuv Bernardo, the San Diego quartet has maintained a core core since its inception. The group's roots can be found in the thrash metal project "Eschatos", but with the addition of Sandoval, a new musical direction was developed, where metal is combined with rap, reggae and punk rock. The title "Payable on Death" reflects the symbolic and personal meaning associated with the band's origins.
Over time, P.O.D. has become one of the most important alternative metal bands of its generation. The songs "Youth of the Nation", "Boom" and "Alive" have been listened to hundreds of millions of times, the group has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and its music has been included in the soundtracks of countless films. Collaborators include Carlos Santana and even Katy Perry, proving the group's versatility and influence in various musical genres.
In late 2025, the band released a cover version of "Don't Let Me Down" and toured South America while working on a new album. Its sound will become even deeper and heavier when using a seven-string guitar for the first time. At the concert in Riga, you will have the opportunity to hear both well-known hits and the latest material, experiencing a group that has maintained its energy and ability to appeal to listeners all over the world for more than thirty years.
