Founded in Crawley, England, the band is fronted by iconic frontman and frontman Robert Smith. For nearly fifty years, The Cure have shaped the sound and spirit of alternative rock, post-punk and gothic rock. The debut album "Three Imaginary Boys" was released in 1979 and received good reviews from critics, placing the group in the post-punk and new wave genres.
Known for their atmospheric soundscapes, emotional depth and powerful concerts, they have built a global fan base with landmark albums such as 'Disintegration', 'Wish' and 'Bloodflowers'.
Their latest studio album, Songs of a Lost World, released in 2024, is their first new material in 16 years and has received widespread critical acclaim. The album highlights the band's signature melancholic intensity while addressing themes of loss, mortality and reflection, reaffirming their importance at the forefront of alternative music. "Songs of a Lost World" also brought the group its first "Grammy" awards - Best Alternative Music Album and Best Alternative Music Performance for the single "Alone".
During their career, The Cure released 14 studio albums, several live recordings and selections, as well as more than 40 singles, selling a total of more than 30 million records. They have performed almost 2000 concerts both solo and at festivals. The band also has several concert film recordings and soundtracks. It's no secret that Robert Smith's visual style inspired one of the most iconic films of director Tim Burton - "Edward Scissorhands". After the film's release, Smith collaborated with Burton on other projects as well.
The Cure have received several prestigious music awards, including Brit Award, MTV Music Video Award, Ivor Novello Award and others. In 2019, the band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
These achievements mark an important stage in the association's career, emphasizing both its longevity and creative relevance even decades after its founding.
The upcoming concerts in the Baltics promise a wide selection of songs from the group's rich repertoire. Known for their spectacular concerts, The Cure continues to captivate audiences around the world, combining nostalgia with powerful emotional intensity.
