The legendary American singer and pianist, one of the brightest personalities of alternative music, Grammy nominee Tori Amos will go on an extensive European tour with the concert program of her latest album "In Times of Dragons" and will perform on May 28 at the Xiaomi Arena amphitheater in Riga. It is expected that this concert will become one of this year's most important events in the calendar of Latvian music connoisseurs. Tickets are available in the "Bilešu Serviss" network.
With a powerful mezzo-soprano voice, expressive piano playing and inimitable stage presence, Tori Amos has been one of the most influential voices in alternative music today for over 35 years. In her concerts, the music is not static - it pulsates throughout the body, combining the discipline of classical music with the passion and freedom of rock and roll.
Tori Amos' latest album 'In Times of Dragons' will be released on May 1st. It continues the artist's narrative form of music delivery, focusing on the search for freedom in today's world where there are efforts to control and silence. As the artist herself states, "In Times of Dragons" is a metaphorical story about the struggle between democracy and tyranny.
In her creative work, Tori Amos consistently addresses themes that are often marginalized in popular music – the female experience, power relations, faith, trauma and personal responsibility. Her songs stand out for their literary depth and emotional directness, while the piano in Tori Amos' music serves not only as an instrument, but as a full conversational partner for the voice. It is this uncompromising artistic approach that has made her one of the most important and influential authors of alternative music over the years.
At the concert in Riga, the artist will be joined by her long-time musical associates - Jon Evans (frontman and bass) and Ash Soan (percussion), as well as three backing vocalists - Liv Gibson, Deni Hlavinka and Hadley Kennary. The program will feature songs from In Times of Dragons alongside highlights from her impressive career, which has garnered nine Grammy nominations and sold more than 12 million albums worldwide.
