Авторы хорошо значение в Латвии песен «So Good at Being in Trouble», «Hunnybee» and «Multi-love» – New Zealand masters of psychedelics and sophisticated melodies Unknown Mortal Orchestra – are on a new tour. Artistic rhythmic guitars, lo-fi aesthetics and signature genre dreaminess will be heard on March 11, 2026 at the Unknown Mortal Orchestra concert in the Palladium Rīga concert hall.

The announcement of the tour followed the release of two albums by Unknown Mortal Orchestra (UMO), released this year with the support of the American independent label Jagjaguwar.

The newest of them – «IC-02 Bogotá» – continues the instrument series «IC», started in 2018 with the release «IC-02 Hanoi». Like its predecessor, this album is a musical document named after the place of its creation, and is described by the musicians themselves as «background music for a strange party or night trips». In addition, this year the group released the EP "Curse", the creation of which was inspired by Italian horror films of the 1970s and 80s. In a concise and expressive form, the album reflects the cursed era in which we live. The track «Boys With The Characteristics of Wolves» with its catchy guitar riffs evokes memories of Black Sabbath, and the entire EP sounds like an unobtrusive soundtrack to the listener's next encounter with existential emptiness.

UMO has long won recognition from publications such as Pitchfork, NME and Uncut. Album «V» (2023) is described by critics as a rich, melodically generous work, literally soaked in sweet melancholy and one of the best compositions of Ruben Nielsen's group leader. "He has the aura of a magnum opus - ruthlessly ambitious and at the same time surprisingly self-sufficient", - notes NME.

Although Unknown Mortal Orchestra is traditionally considered psychedelic rock, their sound organically absorbs elements of R&B, funk and soul, creating a soft rhythmic inertia that subtly invites you to dance. It is noteworthy that at the dawn of his career, Ruben Nielsen anonymously posted the song "Ffunny Ffriends" on Bandcamp - the track quickly attracted the attention and interest of Pitchfork editors. When the publication re-published the composition and tried to clarify the author, Nielsen admitted that it was the work of Unknown Mortal Orchestra. For approximately five years of existence, the group released several albums, moved from New Zealand to the United States, toured with Grizzly Bear, received awards and sold out more than once. Now it's time to listen to Unknown Mortal Orchestra in Riga - in all their airy beauty and cinematic nuance.
