The local rock group "fknl" has presented a new video for the song "Kerosene", portal balticevents.info reports.
According to band leader Daniel Med, the composition is dedicated to the inner world of a person suffering from depression:
"This is a song about a man who suffers from loneliness and cannot form healthy relationships. In order to feel alive, he chooses relationships with fatal women who can destroy him. The song has the lines: 'Drain my heart with kerosene, light a cigarette and leave me in the ashes of memory'."
In the video, the main character can be seen in bed, a room that becomes both a refuge and a prison for him at the same time. There he is left alone with his thoughts, gradually losing the balance of his mind. It is also the place where he experiences love at night and emotional emptiness during the day.
The group "fknl" was founded in 2023, its creator is Daniëls Mēds from Jelgava, who has been interested in music since childhood. He started with a synthesizer, later learned the piano, cello and singing, but in his teens he became interested in rap and alternative rock.
At the age of 15, Medes performed with a concert ensemble, performing cover versions, but gravitated towards a heavier sound. After graduating from school, he lived and worked abroad for some time until he returned to Latvia to focus on creative work.
In the same year 2023, he founded the group fknl. Currently, the collective is actively working on the debut album and in 2025 reached the TV show "Ir Talants!" semi-final.
Currently, Daniel works as a vocal teacher for children and young people at a music school, while continuing to develop the "fknl" project. The song "Kerosene" will be included in the band's new album, which is scheduled to be released at the end of this year. The song is available on all streaming platforms, as well as on the band's official website www.fknl.band.
According to the author, the lyrics of the new album are full of pain, search for freedom and refusal to live "quietly". fknl's music reflects a difficult life path, inner strength and true love for people and the world, while female characters remain one of the main sources of inspiration.
